Hosting Recommendations

We’ve received a few comments asking, “Well, if Bluehost sucks, who the Hell should I host with??”, so we’ve decided to put together our opinion on the best web hosts out there, no matter what situation you’re in.

We work with a lot of clients and we have experience dealing with all of these hosting providers.  For our own personal use, we use DowntownHost.  For our business clients we usually stick with InMotion.  But for those who are just starting out or who want to “Go Green”, we’ve also included a couple other suggestions.

Best Green Hosting
HostGator
Hosting from HostGatorWe love that HostGator has decided to power all of their shared hosting and reseller hosting with wind power. They host over 1,300,000 on their shared and reseller hosting, making them one of the most popular hosting providers as well as the most environmentally friendly one.  Aside from that, their hosting, customer support and uptime are top-notch for small to semi-large sites. You wouldn’t want to host YouTube on them, but almost any site the typical user has won’t be a problem.
Best Business Hosting
InMotion
InMotion Business Website HostingInMotion provides serious hosting for those looking to run business websites. They’re not a budget hosting provider, though their “Launch” Business Class Hosting is very affordable at just $6.95 a month. What we like about them is they don’t succumb to the pitfalls of claims like “Unlimited Sites!” or “Unlimited Sub-Domains!”. Their hosting services are for those who are serious about system resources and want great customer support and don’t want the downtime of a budget hosting provider like Bluehost. However, they also offer very limited budget plans that you’d be better off joining HostGator or WebHostingPad for.
Best All-Around Hosting
DowntownHost
DowntownHost - Our Current Hosting ProviderDowntownHost is a great hosting provider for anyone who doesn’t need a business site and wants great Customer Support and uptime.  We currently use DowntownHost for the majority of our personal websites and haven’t experienced a single problem yet.  After Bluehost, DowntownHost has been a breath of fresh air.  After having our Bluehost hosting account cancelled with no warning, DowntownHost helped us move our sites over immediately so we could get up and running as soon as possible.  Their helpfulness nearly made us forget about how much Bluehost sucks, and got our mind back on our websites and not backups.
Best Budget Hosting
WebHostingPad
WebHostingPad - Quality, Cheap HostingIf you’re looking to create a Wordpress blog (like “Bluehost Sucks” here) you might want to check out WebHostingPad.  They also have all of the tools necessary for a website newbie to create their first website, like a free Site Builder tool and cPanel with Fantastico (it automates the process of installing Wordpress and many other web applications).  Their plans start at just $3.96 and are good enough for anyone to get started building a website.  There are plenty of free hosting services out there, but there’s always a downside, such as ads placed throughout your site.  If you’re looking for your first hosting provider, WebHostingPad is a pretty good choice.
